40 Days of Revolution: Week 2 - Attributes of a Revolutionary

What is the craziest thing you have ever seen anyone do?

Read John 3:30: "He must increase, but I must decrease."

What does this statement mean to you?

What areas of your life need to increase for you to live revolutionary?

What areas of your life need to decrease for you to live revolutionary?

Luke 1:57-66 / Luke 3:1-20 - Jesus created a revolution; the early church continued the revolution; and this generation will complete the revolution. What part will you play? Maybe a better question would be, "Waht in your life is keeping you from playing a major role in the last days' revolution?

Last week we discussed having the "spirit" and "power" of Elijah, and how these qualities are needed to march in the revolutionary army of God. This week we will discuss the attributes of a revolutionary generation.

You are going to have to turn up the RPM's to develop the attributes of a revolutionary. The first thing we see about a revolutionary generation, is that they are not mixed with compromise and worldliness. Instead, they are marked by true repentance because they have turned from their sins to God (John 3:8). The second thing we see, is that this generation will not follow in the footsteps of the previous generation (Luke 1:57-66). Instead, they will launch out as pioneers and blaze a new trail for the gospel of Jesus Christ. The last attribute of a revolutionary is that they serve or minister to others. It is time for the church to come out and be separate - TO STOP JUST "GOING" TO CHURCH AND TO START "BEING" THE CHURCH.

This is a call to daily commit to practicing the attributes of a revolutionary. Let's pray and think about how we can put these things to practice in our own lives.

40 Days of Revolution: Week One : Life of a Revolutionary

Scriptures to read: Malachi 4:5-6; Matthew 11:12

Ask: Why was it important for John the Baptist to prepare the way for the Lord? What does "in the spirit and power of Elijah" mean?

revolutionary: adj. - Radically new or innovative; ouside or beyond established procedure, principles, etc.

The gospels begin with the story of a revolution. The birth of Jesus split time into two (ad and bc) and His death made a new covenant between God and man.

In these last days, this "John the Baptist" Generation will move in the "spirit and power" of Elijah. The word power is where we get our word dynamite. This means that if we are going to see the return of the King and the revolution completed, we have to be willing to move in the miracle working power God has given us. Ask yourself....if everyone lived as I did, would this revolution be completed in my lifetime? How and where do I need to allow God to bring a revolution in my own life (relationships, thought life, time with God, etc.)?

Jamie Fisher's Testimony - Lincoln Northeast Sophomore

Hey everyone! How are you all doing? Lately I've felt as if it's getting harder and harder to draw near to God and I feel that a lot of us youth are feeling the same. Quite a bit has happened over this past year that has really made me think about my personal relationship with Him and how I personally act throughout the day. It's made me realize that yes a lot of stuff that I necessarily don't like or that's really hard to deal with, happens but God is here for us and cares a great deal. Although it's super hard, I've come to realize that with no matter what happens, I can always turn to Him. I admit that there have been plenty of days where I really don't want to do anything or I'm just simply not happy but as hard as it is, I know those are the days that I should draw near to Him more. Last year, as some of you may know, my grandpa passed away and numerous things happened in my family and with my friends. It was super hard to go to school and to go on not being sad all the time; it still is sometimes. However, I believe God is trying to reach to me now more then ever. It's still hard but I really want to get back into reading the bible more and praying for more than just a few minutes everyday. I admit I haven't been doing so well with that lately but I think I really need to. I wanted to write this to let you all know that you're not alone with anything you're going through. Yes you have friends and family to help you through it, but you also have God and He's the most important one that can help you. I hope in writing this that we all can relate on more of a personal level and that you too can write what God is doing in your life. I want to let you all know you guys rock! Thanks for taking the time to read what I had to say and I look forward to reading what you all write :) God bless!
